Alumna earns NPSC fellowship

Congratulations to alumna Erica Musgrave (Mathematics, ’16), recent recipient of a Graduate Fellowship from the National Physical Science Consortium (NPSC), “a partnership between government agencies and laboratories, industry, and higher education” which aims to “increase the number of American citizens with graduate degrees in the physical sciences and related engineering fields, emphasizing recruitment of a diverse applicant pool”.

In addition to funding tuition and fees, the prestigious NPSC fellowship also allows for a research or teaching assistantship and includes support for up to two internships with a government agency. Erica, who is now a second-year Ph.D. student at the University of Nebraska, plans to intern for the Department of Defense during one of her summers in graduate school.

While a student at Saint Mary’s, Erica participated in the Director’s Summer Program at the NSA, enjoyed a very successful softball career, and was awarded the prestigious De La Salle Award in her senior year. The Math & CS Department is very proud of Erica’s continued accomplishments!
