Each March since 2016, Saint Mary’s College has hosted an Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conference, organized by the Orinda-Moraga-Lafayette branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). In these collaborative day-long events, local middle school girls come together to learn from many interactive STEM-themed workshops designed and run by local STEM professionals, be inspired by women who have succeeded in exciting STEM careers, and fellowship with other girls who love STEM.
Each EYH conference also includes a parallel component specially designed for the parents of our middle school participants. In these sessions, parents hear from Saint Mary’s School of Science faculty and students, and participate in a Q&A with local experts.
If you are interested in volunteering your time and expertise to help in the planning and execution of an upcoming EYH conference, or if you’re a STEM professional who would like to learn more about planning and running a workshop, please contact Prof. Kristen Beck.
